Last month I was in Detroit, where I met some amazing musicians and artists behind record cover designs, and reconnected with the music that first pulled me there. There are endless incredible tracks, but for this time I picked out 10 that felt right. Detroit is the epicenter where the culture and music of the African diaspora came to America and kept spreading out to the world. Europe often gets the spotlight, but I’d love if this chart inspires you to dive back into the artists representing the city where it all started.
