This started as a thread on twitter, which ran for about six months from August to December as an exercise in slowly contemplating which albums had really made an impact on me this decade. The criteria was to include albums I had really sat and engaged with for various periods of time and which I still reach for when in a certain mood. The album as a format has found itself under increasing pressure this past decade: streaming, constant assaults for attention, increased precarity in the arts, devaluation of music's value. And yet I'd imagine more albums have been released this past decade than in any previous decade (i don't have the numbers but based on the industry news and stories so feel free to correct me if wrong). Whenever possible I've tried to find the album on Bandcamp and so decided to make a list, because hey it's not like you've got time to read a meandering thread about what I thought was dope this decade. There's a few bits I couldn't include, mainly major label releases which don't exist on Bandcamp or things that for some reason or another aren't on the platform (that's a story for another time).
