Monthly Report: February 2026
Here we are again, time for another Monthly Report! Catching any new folks up to speed, this is a collection of songs from albums released in February 2026 that I enjoyed and stuck with me for one reason or another. I've successfully managed two of these in a row, let's see how March goes!
While last month's playlist leaned more into the shoegaze and jazzier side of things, thematic threads weaved throughout this month's spotlight a bit of twang and electronica amongst some select soul, post-punk, and metal selections. In a way, this playlist feels a bit more disparate than the last, yet I think it flows reasonably well. I'm biased, though. Hope you enjoy and find a new favorite!
If you're new to Buy Music Club playlists, just scroll down and click on the album cover of the first song to start playing! The playlist is built using Bandcamp, so if you like what you hear you can purchase the album directly from the artists.
Heaven 2 - Lala Lala
Catchy electro-indie pop record that I just kept coming back to a lot this month.
Soul Woman - Michelle David & The True-Tones
Straight up fun soul record, what more can you ask for?
Arise - Helicon x Al Lover
Helicon's spaced-out psychedelic sound gets an electronica/trip-hop upgrade in their collaboration with DJ Al Lover.
Love is the Answer - Las Robertas
Costa Rica's Las Robertas are back with another fantastic, dreamy garage rock record.
Shapes Unravel - Abronia
I once described Abronia as "what would happen if you tossed (Jefferson Airplane-era) Grace Slick into a volcano with a saxophone and a blood-soaked, dusty manuscript of a lost Cormac McCarthy novel." I generally stand by this assessment on their latest dusty, psychedelic offering. Pedal steel galore on this one!
My Days of 58 - Bill Callahan
I mean, come on. It's Bill Callahan.
A Hum of Maybe - Apparat
I'm not super plugged in to - or, frankly, knowledgeable about - the electronica world, but this one caught my ear.
Nothing's About to Happen to Me - Mitski
A cat-laced chamber folk record that is witty, pensive, and well-arranged.
Kisses to Chaos - Izzy and the Black Trees
My favorite Polish Post-Punk band returns with another banger of an album. If you like the stuff that's been coming out of the UK in the last decade (IDLES, Wet Let, etc.), you'll likely love this record.
Singin' to an Empty Chair - Ratboys
Ratboys have an interesting twang-laced punky/grunge thing going on that exists somewhere between Bully and Margot Price.
Let Us Not Speak of Them but Look and Pass On - Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean
More nasty sludge - as expected from the likes of CttBotO - but with a bit more... groove?
