I did a lot more discovery in 2022 than I have in recent years - doing some deeper dives into classic groups I've always loved (Sly, Grateful Dead, Bill Withers), finding obscure classics I'd missed (Flaming Groovies, Tall Dwarfs, Duster), and finding awesome stuff through new music reviews and radio (Mamalarkey, Soccer Mommy, Michael Nau).

Here's the bandcamp discoveries I loved the most this year: 

Roger by Damien Jurado - I've loved Damien's music for years. This song is absolutely sublime, and the best example yet of his gorgeous melancholy songwriting.

Fire in the Driveway by Soccer Mommy is tense and beautiful and the most stunningly produced song I've heard this year.

Alive Ain't Always Living by Quelle Chris continues his trend of thoughtful vibey hip-hop, with lyrics that focus on centering on gratitude in the face of massive obstacles. It's put me in a better frame of mind at several points this year.

Sincerely Yours by Omni takes the jagged angular path of Parquet Courts and Television and creates a jumpy earworm that's stuck with me over and over.

Cooking by Duster is the kind of song I wish I'd discovered in my teens - the lo-fi pulsey repetition creates such a lovely dreamy jam, and gives me the perfect floaty feeling.
